The One Beacon

Optical Fiber Sensors for Extreme Environments of Temperature and Radiation

This project, led out of the Robinson institute in Victoria University of Wellington, seeks to investigate the operation of optical fiber sensors and quantum materials (such as the rare-earth doped crystals discussed above) under the influence of extreme radiation and temperatures. This work has the potential to find application in major commercial clean-tech industries such as fusion energy systems, clean-aviation, power generation and space exploration.
