Congratulations to Professor Cather Simpson

Professor Cather Simpson has been elected as Vice President of SPIE. It means she will become the President of SPIE in 2 years.

Our Director, Professor Frédérique Vanholsbeeck, was at Optics + Photonics in San Diego when this news was announced and says, “it was really nice how our part of the world is very visible in the photonics community thanks to people like Cather!”  

Cather says, "Many of you have heard me say ‘the 21st Century belongs to optics and photonics.’ I’m delighted to help the SPIE community innovate the way to this brighter future and look forward to bringing an Australasian flavour to the role.”
