Commercial Development Awards are available for MSc and PhD students who have submitted their thesis or are currently completing their degree.

About this funding

Commercial Development Awards are available for MSc and PhD students who have submitted their thesis or are currently completing their degree. The aim is to support early-stage work that will make a difference to the tech development pathway. A range of commercial R&D or skill development activities could be supported, including development of initial proof-of-concept results for commercial funding applications, or market research.

The Commercial Development Award is valued at $4,000, and outputs must be demonstrated six months from the date of award.

How to access funding

Applicants must submit a plan, and provide a report on the outputs produced within six months of funding being awarded. The funding is paid in two parts, the first when the Commercial Development Award is granted, and the second once the recipient's report is received. Applications are considered monthly.
